Shockwave therapy device
Method: Shockwave therapyAcoustic waves activate natural healing deep in the tissue.
Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) emerged in the 1980s — acoustic shockwaves were originally used to break up kidney stones (lithotripsy). After doctors noticed that surrounding tissue healed faster following the procedure, the method was adapted in the 1990s for treating musculoskeletal conditions.
The device generates acoustic pulses that travel through the skin to reach the damaged tissue zone. This mechanical energy creates microscopic stimuli that activate the body's natural inflammatory and healing response — new blood vessel formation (angiogenesis) increases, collagen synthesis speeds up, and calcium deposits in chronically inflamed tendons gradually break down.
Today, shockwave therapy is considered one of the most effective non-surgical treatments for plantar fasciitis (heel spur), tennis and golfer's elbow, shoulder tendon inflammation and other chronic tendon problems.
