Method: Cryotherapy

Controlled cooling for rapid pain and inflammation relief.

Cryotherapy device

Using cold to reduce pain and swelling has been known in medicine since ancient Greece, but controlled, precise local cryotherapy as a physiotherapy method developed in the second half of the 20th century, once devices appeared that could precisely control temperature and exposure time.

The device rapidly cools the surface and nearby tissue, causing blood vessels to constrict (vasoconstriction). This reduces blood flow to the inflamed area, slows nerve impulse conduction (producing an analgesic effect), and lowers the tissue's metabolic rate, limiting the inflammatory process.

Cryotherapy is widely used immediately after injuries and surgery, as well as during flare-ups of chronic inflammation, whenever pain and swelling need to be reduced quickly.
