HILT high-intensity laser

Therapeutic lasers have been used in medicine since the late 1960s, but low-level laser therapy (LLLT) worked mainly on a superficial level. High-intensity laser therapy (HILT) was developed in the early 2000s, using pulsed, high-power emissions to deliver energy much deeper into tissue without overheating the skin's surface.

An HILT laser emits short, high-energy pulses that tissue absorbs through a photochemical process — this stimulates cell mitochondria and ATP (energy) production, dilates blood vessels and reduces inflammatory mediators. The result is less pain and swelling, and faster tissue recovery.

The method is widely used for joint arthrosis, tendon inflammation, muscle spasms and sports injuries — as a painless alternative to, or complement of, other physiotherapy methods.
