Biomechanical stimulation device

Therapeutic vibration was developed by sports scientists in the 1970s–80s — originally to prevent muscle atrophy in cosmonauts under weightlessness. Later, in the 1990s and 2000s, the method was adopted by sports medicine and rehabilitation, leading to modern biomechanical stimulation (BMS) devices for local, targeted use.

The device produces precise, high-frequency mechanical vibration applied directly to a muscle or tendon. This stimulates muscle spindle receptors and triggers what is known as the tonic vibration reflex — muscle fibre activation increases, blood and lymph flow improve, and elevated muscle tone (hypertonus) is reduced.

The method is used for muscle spasms, post-injury stiffness and limited mobility, as well as to speed up athletes' recovery after physical exertion.
